Choosing the right one
Fleece takes both finishes well. A big printed front is the classic school and team look; an embroidered left chest on a heavyweight hoodie reads more premium and suits staff wear and merch. Both work — it is a question of the look you are after and the quantity you are running.
One practical note: heavier fleece supports embroidery better than a thin, loose knit, which needs a more careful underlay to stop the stitching sinking into the pile. That is handled at the digitizing stage.
